One of Patrick Swayze’s greatest contributions to the 1980s was the ripped, tough throat. The Road House. Now it looks like the Rowdy Herrington-directed film is getting the remake treatment on Amazon Prime.

New The Road House Jake Gyllenhaal stars in the possible part of Swayze. It is not yet known who will play McGregor, but it is said to be a new character and will not be playing himself.

The new take The Road House will follow “a former UFC fighter (Gyllenhaal) who takes a job as a bouncer in a rough-and-tumble house in the Florida Keys, but soon discovers that not all is as it seems in this tropical paradise.”

The remake will go live on Amazon Prime. It goes into production later this month.

Summary for The Road House it went like this:

A legendary bouncer comes to restore order in a notorious bar, but runs afoul of a ruthless crime boss who controls the city. The stage is set for an action-packed showdown.

Director Doug Liman will direct the big action film with Joel Silver producing.

of The Road House The film also stars Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, BK Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp and Bob Menery.

We love us a good bit of violent 1980s action, especially when it stars an ugly, bearded Swayze who likes to rip people’s throats out. Here’s hoping Gyllenhaal continues the tradition.
